What to Wear on New Year’s Eve
Dressing for New Year’s Eve: decoded.
I don’t know about you but once Christmas is officially over, it suddenly dawns on me that my favourite time of year (and, sadly, time off from work) is coming to an end: New Year’s Eve is nearly here.
While we’ve got all year to play with new presents, looking at all the worn-to-death holiday dresses hanging in your wardrobe is pretty uninspiring. I get it – the season’s most important sartorial occasion is right around the corner and you’re gonna go crazy if you have to throw on that silk slip dress again! So instead of sifting through all your closet rejects, why not treat yo’self to a killer new ensemble?
Instead of trawling every website in the depths of the interwebs, we’ve put together a few New Year’s Eve outfit options for you, to get your creative juices flowing.
So whether you’re dancing around a beach bonfire or sipping espresso martinis at the bar, bring in 2017 with one of these killer looks.
We have to remember that it’s hot at the end of December, so something that is cool is ideal for the balmy summer evenings. This Zimmermann playsuit nails it – the black silk is sleek, the frills are pretty and the cut-outs are super sexy (and allow for a bit of air-flow!).
Bonfire on the beach
Sandy everything and hair that smells like smoke for days is all part of the bonfire fun. A low-maintenance outfit is key – this Sass & Bide denim skirt and billowing blouse will make the perfect getup for dancing around the bonfire until the wee hours. Oh, and the cage belt adds a fun, unexpected touch!
If you’re heading to a ball to ring in the new year, go all-out with textures such as velvet, rhinestones and glitter. After all, if you can’t do it on New Year’s Eve, when can you? I’m loving The Great Gatsby vibe in this outfit. Channel your inner Daisy Buchanan with this velvet Zara midi dress and vintage-inspired heels. Accessorise with a turban to seal the deal.
